What recordings are

A recording is the audio file of a conversation that took place. It is its own type of documentation and differs from the transcript and the summary: while the transcript reproduces the wording as text and the AI summary condenses the conversation, a recording reproduces the conversation as audio.

Recordings are not active by default. Whether recording happens at all depends on several settings and conditions.

Conditions for a recording

  • Recording can be disabled at the workspace and campaign level.
  • Whether recording happens depends on the workspace, campaign and consent settings.
  • Without the required consent, no recording may take place.

If recording is not enabled or there is no permitted basis, no recording is created. A transcript or a summary can still be available in this case, provided a conversation took place.

Wichtig: Recordings may only take place when the required consent is in place. Configuring this responsibly remains your responsibility. See recording consent.

When no recording is available

If a conversation has no recording, this is not an error but in many cases the result of the chosen settings. A transcript and a summary can still be available in this case and provide the essential information about the conversation. Whether a recording makes sense for your use case depends on your requirements and the legal framework.

Recordings and data protection

How recordings are to be assessed under data protection law is described in the article recordings in the privacy section. For retention and deletion, the article retention and deletion applies.
