Adding contacts to a lead list

A lead list only becomes useful once it has content. You can add existing contacts to a list or bring new contacts directly into the list through an import.

Adding existing contacts

  1. Open the lead list you want.
  2. Select the contacts you want to add.
  3. Add the selection to the list.

Because the list references the contacts, the core data stays in the workspace. Changes to a contact affect all lists it is part of.

Adding contacts via import

During the CSV import you can assign the imported contacts to a lead list. This way new records enter your base and the right list in a single step.

Hinweis: Make sure you do not add the same contact to the same list more than once. See detecting duplicate contacts for guidance.

Scope and limits

Adding affects the specific lead list. The contact itself stays unchanged and can still be used in other lists. If the list is already assigned to a running campaign, follow the guidance in assigning leads to a campaign.

Common questions

Does adding change the core data?

No. The list references the contact without copying it. The core data stays unchanged and remains available to all members who are permitted to see it.

Can I add contacts to a running campaign?

If the list is already assigned to a started campaign, handle additions deliberately. Follow the guidance in assigning leads to a campaign.

What if a contact is missing?

Create the missing contact first or import it. You can then add it to the lead list as described.
