What objection categories are

Objection categories assign the objections and pretexts of a conversation to specific groups. Instead of recording every objection only as free text, the categorization makes it visible which types of objections recur in your conversations. This makes later evaluation and the targeted improvement of your campaign easier.

An objection is a factual reason a contact raises against the offer or the request. A pretext tends to serve to end the conversation. How the voice agent handles them is described in the article objections and pretexts.

Typical categories

Which categories appear depends on your campaign and your objection configuration. Common groups are:

  • no need or no interest;
  • not a suitable time;
  • price or budget;
  • existing solution or existing provider;
  • lack of decision-making authority;
  • request to be contacted later.

The specific form depends on the objection handling you set up. How you define it is described in handling objections.

Hinweis: The voice agent handles objections only within the rules you define. After a clear end of the conversation, it does not continue arguing.

Objection or pretext

Not every reason stated is a genuine objection. A pretext often serves to end a conversation politely without naming the actual reason. The categorization helps you separate the two cases and adjust your objection handling in a targeted way. Pay attention to how often a category actually leads to a lost contact, rather than weighting every mention equally.

Evaluation across several conversations

Across an entire campaign, the categories are brought together in the objection analysis. This helps you see which objections occur particularly often and where an adjustment of the script, knowledge or offer is worthwhile. For details, see objection analysis.
