Transcripts and summaries

Nexcal can document conversations in text form. This includes the transcript and the AI summary. Both are types of documentation that differ from an audio recording. This article explains how they arise and what they are used for.

The transcript

A transcript is the text rendering of a conversation. It helps you follow the course of a call without listening to an audio recording. Depending on the connection and configuration, a transcript can be complete, partial or unavailable. The call detail view is described in transcript.

The AI summary

The AI summary condenses the conversation into its key points. It complements the transcript but does not replace it. The summary follows the actual conversation and does not invent content. For details, see AI summary.

Distinction from a recording

Transcript and summary are text-based documentation. A recording is an audio file and is subject to its own requirements. It is not active by default. For more, see recordings and recording consent.

Hinweis: Text documentation can also contain personal data. Treat transcripts and summaries with the same care as other call data.

Retention and access

How long transcripts and summaries are stored follows the retention rules. Who may view them depends on the role in the workspace; see roles and permissions.

When documentation is missing

If a transcript or summary is missing, this can be due to the connection, the course of the conversation or the configuration. The article missing transcripts or results can help.
