Understanding call usage

Call usage reflects how much Nexcal actually spent on calls over a period of time. It is recorded separately from the monthly platform price. This article explains how usage is generated and how it is measured.

The basis: connected talk time

Usage is based solely on connected talk time. A conversation is connected once the contact has answered the call and a connection exists. This time is recorded to the second.

  • Only connected talk time is counted.
  • It is recorded to the second.
  • Durations are shown as mm:ss or h:mm:ss.

What does not count towards usage

Not every dial attempt creates usage. In particular, the following do not count:

  • unanswered calls;
  • calls explicitly classified as preview or test.

Which calls are billed is described in which calls are billed?. Which calls are not billed is described in which calls are not billed?.

Usage and platform price are separate

Call usage and the monthly platform price are two separate levels. The platform price covers the feature scope and capacities of your plan. Usage additionally reflects your actual calling activity. Technical token or provider costs are not broken down separately in public.

Reviewing usage

You can review your actual consumption in the usage history. It lists connected conversations with their duration so that usage can be traced.

Hinweis: What matters for usage is connected talk time alone. There is no calculation based on an estimated effort per call.
