Verifying a phone number

Verification is the technical step in which you prove that you are allowed to use a phone number. It stands at the beginning of the approval process and is separate from the Nexcal review that follows. Only once both steps are complete can a number be used in production.

Why verification happens

Verification makes sure a caller ID is not added without authorization. This prevents third-party numbers from being used as a caller ID. Verification relates only to proving control of the number, not to any assessment of the content of your campaign.

How verification works

  1. Add the phone number first. See adding a caller ID.
  2. Start verification for this number.
  3. Confirm access to the number using the procedure shown.
  4. After successful verification, the number moves into the Nexcal review.

Hinweis: Always enter the phone number in international format with a country code. An incomplete number cannot be verified.

After verification

After successful verification, the status of the number changes and the Nexcal review can begin. As long as the review is not complete, the number stays blocked for production campaigns. You usually only need to verify each phone number once. If you remove a number and add it again later, the proof is required again.

If verification does not succeed

  • Check that the phone number is entered correctly and in full.
  • Make sure you actually have access to the number.
  • Repeat the process if the first attempt was interrupted.

If the number stays invalid, the article invalid phone number can help.
