Pauses and silence
Not every pause in a conversation means the contact wants to end the call. Often it is a moment of reflection, in which the contact thinks or formulates a question. Nexcal is designed to handle short pauses and silence appropriately.
Why pauses occur
- The contact is thinking about a question or an offer.
- The contact is looking for information, such as a date in the calendar.
- The contact is briefly distracted.
- The phone connection transmits a short silence.
How the agent handles pauses
The agent gives the contact room to think and does not interrupt a moment of reflection immediately. If the silence lasts longer, the agent can carefully check whether the contact is still there or would like a further explanation. This keeps the conversation comfortable without being pushy. The agent adapts its pace to the contact and allows enough time for an answer, especially with more complex questions. This calm approach comes across as attentive and avoids making the contact feel pressured.
When silence is a signal
Prolonged silence can also be a signal that the contact wants to end the call. In this case the agent does not push, but initiates a clean end of conversation. After a clear end of conversation, the agent does not keep arguing.
Hinweis: A calm conversation pace in the script helps the agent distinguish moments of reflection from a desired end of conversation.
